the 1st answer dont work!

If computer speakers just “stop working”, and you did not adjust any settings on your computer, the trouble is likely with your speaker connection or your speakers itself.

Before we do anything, we’ll check the easiest source of trouble – make sure your Volume setting on is not on Mute or ’0′.

We’re moving on to the speakers now. First, ensure your speakers are plugged in to the green port on your PC, and your speakers are powered and on (any speaker lights should be on) – if the speaker’s lights do not come on, then you simply need new speakers. Finally, if your speakers have any other plugs or connections, make sure they are connected and fastened tightly, then try again. (Tip: If you’re not sure about your speakers being broken, you can easily test them by plugging them into an MP3 player.)

Next, you should test your computer’s sound card. If you take a working pair of speakers (or, even a set of working headphones will do) and plug them into your computer, you should hear something. If a good set of speakers produce no sound, then we can assume the trouble is with either your sound card or something in Windows Vista.

At this point, try to recall if any software changes were made recently which may have affected your audio settings. Something like installing a media program might have caused some unwanted changes, and may need to be adjusted. Next, check Device Manager, and check your sound card settings – you may find a hardware error or conflict. (Below is a link which explains how to open and use Device Manager.)

Hopefully, this helps! If you can’t get anywhere, and your speakers are fine, you may want to ask anyone else who uses your computer if they’ve changed anything recently. Good luck!
