my exboyfriend knows how to stop my internet from wherever he is at, when he does this a black screen comes up?

with the words netgear on top, and I cant get on the internet untill i call him , kiss his ass, then suddenly it works again. How is he doing this? how can I stop it? Is this illegal?

Yes this is illegal. In fact it is a federal offense.
If he has installed a keylogger that may fall under laws regarding eavesdropping (each state has different laws)

I would like to help you with this but it will take a little time.

First if you see a black screen on your computer that means he has loaded software on your computer to preform the remote connection, it sounds like remote desktop or a vnc program.

He may have also installed a keylogger
This software can record everything you type into your computer.

I would recommend reinstalling windows from scratch (backup your files to a different computer or hard drive)
Short of that you can run a good antivirus but you could not be 100% sure you got everything.

Next you should reset the router to its default settings. You can configure a router to have remote access and a ddns server to track it when the ip changes (that is how I would do it)

by resetting it you will remove his control on the router, you can do this by holding down the button in the back of the router (you may need a paper clip to get at it )

after that you will just have to set up your wireless again, I can help you with that too.

He sounds somewhat tech savvy so I would also change all of your passwords for your email facebook etc. after you clean up your computer or from a computer he has never had contact with

Also make sure your email is not set to forward to addresses you do not own.

programs you should look for and remove are anything with vnc in its name, “teamviewer”.
