The nature of MICR Toner and MICR reading process
MICR stands for characters magnetic ink recognition. As its name suggests, MICR toners have magnetic components in the form of iron oxide additives. These additives are iron oxide why reader-sorter machines can read the controls.
When a check is inserted into the reader-sorter machine, the line MICR passes through a check to magnetized iron oxide and emit a signal. Subsequently, the check is read by a magnetic read head. Contact MICR line between the magnet and the magnetic read head creates an electromagnetic field, also called a flow pattern.
The flow pattern in turn creates a current in the read head. This allows the characters in the MICR line to be recognized by the machine. The force of the flow pattern and time crossing the line in the read head are essential to determine the accuracy of character recognition.
The waveform Theory
The MICR reading process works by using what is called the theory of waveform. To put simply, the signals emitted by the magnetized characters printed with MICR toner in the MICR line for creating waves. The peaks of these waves, both positive and negative, should be the correct height or depth for the reader sorter machine to make the correct reading. The position of these waves should be on the correct network.
This is why accuracy is so important when it comes to printing checks with MICR toner. The correct percentage of iron oxide additives in the MICR toner itself contributes to the intensity signal reading. If the signals are too weak or too strong, errors occur at the peak of the waves. The position of the ripples allows the machine to anticipate the signals and therefore recognize the character is read. If the printed character is biased or not in the correct size, the machine that receives the signals and stop reading the wrong impression.
There can be no change in the peaks or the position of the printing with MICR toner. The reader-sorter the machine would find impossible to read.
The importance of choosing the right MICR Toner
Taking into account the reader classifier so process control machines, it is important that you use a good quality printer and a MICR toner MICR quality when you make your impression checks. If the printer does not print correctly, where there are gaps, spots, blurring or jagged edges in the MICR line, the machine would not be able to read printing.
