The mention of poker (online and land based) in the news, magazines, etc. has been steadily increase – with many major tournament winners get instant fame in the top of the cash nice price $ $ $. Many stories of new (at) poker hands famous, lucky sucking outputs and examples of horrible table manners have seen the light of day. The theme today is a few of the most famous poker hands – hands that have been around for some time. "Dead Man's Hand" and "Texas Dolly" are probably the most famous of the two hands and their stories are counted here.

Dead Man's hand

The history of poker has been so popular anywhere else like this. The hand back at the time of the good old days of the Wild West and the city of Deadwood.

The famous scout, lawman and gunman Wild Bill Hickok – arrived in Deadwood during the gold rush period. The Black Hills became the center of attention when large deposits of gold were found in 1874. This quickly gave birth to a rough mining camp, where people gathered to try their luck at prospecting. In 1876, the camp had grown up in a small town, but in development. Deadwood and remained a dangerous place to live outside the law because of the type of people attracted by the gold rush. Exactly why Wild Bill was in the city is not known. It could have been looking for a job as law enforcement, or simply hoping to make money on their other talents. Either way he was playing Draw Poker rooms in one of the local Deadwood on August 2, 1876, when a man named "Crooked Nose" McCall approached and shot him in the head. Stories have to this was the only time in his life of Bill sitting with his back to the door and therefore could not see McCall coming in. The shot was fatal.

Hickok was the hand of the AA-8-8-X, when this hand was killed and later given the nickname "Dead Man's Hand" – a reference both to the murder and a warning to all players superstitious danger of playing this hand!

Being a big western fan me this is definitely my favorite celebrity poker hand and really go out of my way come to play. Probably not wise, but fun … maybe you should read some more poker books. Today there are plenty of references to this event in the popular culture and the scene has been replicated in many films. A search for "Dead Man's Hand" on YouTube will give a lot of examples.

Texas Dolly

The first player to actually win the WSOP two years in a row is Doyle Brunson. This was a big problem on their itself but the fact that Brunson went on to win two years with the same hand – is really what this special occasion apart. The year is 1976, when Doyle is his first victory and even the fields of smaller tournaments at that time was still a major achievement. The strange fact, and unlike winning twice with the same letters (and the poker hand) wins the hand of a higher placement among famous poker hands.

In 1976, Doyle was the head against Jesse Alto, in the final. In the final hand held Ace-Jack High and Doyle had a T2 of spades. Doyle be a chip leader decided to call before the flop bet Alto (Doyle movement typical). Alto were in great shape on the flop (AJT) with a high torque two, while Doyle had little chance of having or getting the best hand. High bet on the flop and Doyle made a whole in movement in hopes of scaring away Alto. High calls and is in great shape to be a heavy favorite in Doyle mediocre hand. After the turn and river (a 2 and a ten) things have changed and Doyle is crowned the champion of the tournament with a full house, tens and twos.

Brunson repeated his victory the following year — this time against Bones Berland. The last hand had bones that have the 85 and Brunson T2o. No pre-flop action. Bones hits on the flop (T-8-5) with two pairs large and not bad for Doyle, either with a high torque. Both players are difficult and check the flop. With the deuce on the turn of the table is now ready for action, and both players move Doyle every inch is now the favorite – just looking to avoid an 8 or 5 in the River. River is another Ten Doyle once again giving a full house and his second victory.
