me and my cousin from los angeles planned a trip to new york about a month ago. Yesterday something came up?

and now he cannot go. The plane leaves in two days and I am basically stuck going alone. Has anyone ever been to new york alone and is it safe, fun, how was the expereience? Im 17 years old. I also do have an older cousin up in manhatan but he works all day and cant really be with me the whole time.

The city(Manhattan) is where I’ll assume you’ll be exploring as its usually the first destination most tourists like to explore. It’s relatively safe considering that security has tightened since the tragic events in 9/11, As someone else had mentioned keep your ID and a number of someone you know on you at all times. For a first timer, it can be a bit overwhelming but you’ll get used to it very quickly. The metro system is pretty much the fastest form of transportation in the city, and they(stations) all have maps so it would be pretty hard to get lost. I’d recommend having someone with you at night just to help navigate but during the morning hours(which I assume you’ll be alone) you can check out many of the tourist destinations i.e Time Square, City Hall, Metropolitan Museum, Statue of Liberty, Central Park, etc…
