How does a private elevator work?

How does a private elevator to a penthouse work? I read somewhere that you have to have a special key to access the penthouse floor, but does the elevator open right into your penthouse? Is it the same elevator that the public uses? Do you share the elevator with a select group of other tennants? Also, if it does open into your penthouse, how can you prevent someone from making a false key card or key and accessing your private residence?

the lifts are accessed by a pin #, key or a card , they do go to certain floors and in some cases open on to the living area ,prevention of this is done by changing the above. more so now dayss they are doing voice recognition software to enhance or change the level of safety for the residence and ensure the privacy
