How does politics affect us??? I have been trying to figure it out for hours.?

Can someone give me some examples?? I have been searching online for the longest time, but all I get is really hard to understand stuff about election crap, philosophical ideas about politics, etc. and that it exists “for the common good.” But what does that mean specifically?? How do they try to help us, how can they hurt us???

Okay, say enough politicians get together and pass through a bill that says “We are free to go into your home and look for anything illegal”

The president then signs it and it becomes a law.

Now any member of government can come into your home as they please as long as they say “We’re looking for something illegal” Doesn’t matter when, doesn’t matter why. As long as they say that they can.

Now what if they pass a bill that says “Anyone who speaks out against what laws we pass can be put to death” and the president signs it.

The Constitution (Look this up) and Bill of Rights are two documents that secure an American citizens rights. Government is to exist to maintain it in accordance with the needs/will of the people.
