How do I network computers?

I have (3) computers in my office and they are connected via ethernet to the DSL modem. I can’t seem to get them to communicate to share folders.
I have windows XP

We need to know what operating system you are using. Vista has an option that prevents your computer from being discoverable on the network.

If you are using 2000/XP, it might be as simple as pressing Windows Key + Pause/Break (next to num lock, brings up system properties window), click the ‘Computer Name’ tab, and make sure that all computers have the same workgroup name. WORKGROUP will work fine.

From there, you need to set folders as shareable on the computers you want to transfer files to/from. That’s as easy as navigating to the folder in My Computer, right clicking on the folder, clicking Properties, then turning on Sharing in the Sharing tab.
