how introduce new dog
how should i introduce a new dog?

they are all females.
hi, i have 2 dogs, one is a shepherd/husky who is 19 months old, the other is a mixed breed about the size of a pit bull who is 13 months old, i may be getting a pure bred siberian husky from a shelter who is around 2 years old, what would be the best way to introduce them? thanks.

The best thing I’d say is to grab a friend or two, each take a dog, and meet in a neutral place, like a park they don’t go to often, or something similar. (Make sure it’s also somewhere safe in case one gets off leash, or spooked or something)

Then, take your dogs and your friends to your home. Each take a seat, let the dogs sniff. (Make sure not to hold leashes tight, it causes tension) and maybe give individual treats, but nothing to smelly or exciting as that could cause a fight. Gradually let them hang out until you think they’ll be okay off leash in your house. (or yard, I guess) and then let nature take its course and hope for the best. Make sure not to interupt natural playing and even when they are establishing a pecking order. It happens and you need to let it happen.

Only interupt if a major fight breaks out, with a loud banging of pots or a slamming door. NEVER put your hand in between a fight. You WILL get bit. (You might leave leashes on for a bit in case of fight, because you could alwas grab leashes and pull them off of each other.)

Hope I helped.
