Can I form a nonprofit organization that promotes other benefits? Me and my friends like and promote a number of groups

Can I set up an organization non-profit that promotes other nonprofit organizations unofficially? Me and my friends as a series of awareness campaigns and grassroots groups and so often promote more than one. Most of these voluntary groups to raise awareness, so I wanted to be a group of volunteers. I understand the rules of the non-collection funds under the guise of fundraising for any of the groups that are promoting, but we would like to start a nonprofit to be more organized and promote various good causes. Anyone know the laws on this and what can be a better group to form?
