During my final year of university in 2005, my friends and I were so desperate to access Facebook – then restricted to US colleges, Oxbridge and the LSE – we set up a campaign pleading with Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s then 20-year-old founder, to add Imperial College to his list of recognised institutions.
