How Center

How do you center wallpaper on a computer?

I have a picture on my computer that I want to set as wallpaper. It is portrait size and it stretches. When I tried to change it to center it just zooms in and looks worse. I have Windows XP. Can anyone tell me why it is doing this, and how I may correct it?

You need some kind of picture editing program to fix this. If you have Microsoft Office 2003 or later, you should have something like Picture Manager which can help you resize or crop the picture to the correct shape and size for your screen. Then, when you center, it will look right.

If you don’t have any picture editor, then download (free) Picasa from Google. It will help you organize your pictures as well as crop and resize.

Check your screen resolution to find out what the size of the picture should be, for example possibly 800×600. Sometimes you can find out screen resolution from the monitor itself if you enter its menu (with the buttons on the front) and look at the Info option. Otherwise, you can check it from Display Properties under Control Panel.
