The fool maker got charge sheet
The fool maker got charge sheet
Rajiv sharma was posted as a Head clerk at Sangrur and on first April he typed a transfer order of a class four employee from Sangrur to Ferozepur both stations being in the state of Punjab. The officer incharge also noted this transfer order and asked the Head Clerk to prepare the relieving papers and also should issue Last Pay certificate so that the peon should not face hardship at the next station. A farewell feast was also arranged at about 3.30 PM. The family of the peon was also invited and the staff presented one wrest watch, one blanket to the peon and his wife was given one golden ring. They left the office weeping because they had got no bank balances with them to arrange their transfer from Sangrur to Ferozepur.
The staff collected some money from their own pockets and gave that sum to the wife. After this when they were not in the office, the Head Clerk went to the officer and told him that he had played April Fool with the peon and there is no real transfer order. On this the officer recalled the peon and sent a report to the head of the department and the Head Clerk was given a charge sheet. I was posted at Divisional level office and the Head Clerk who was close to me approached me . I was also elected general secretary of the association and therefore, I went to the Head of the Department and prayed for mercy. While explaining position I said, ” Sir, the British while leave India had given this mischief to us and this fellow played this mischief without having any ill will in his mind and heart. The peon was still to leave the station and he had given correct information to the officer in charge. Since no ban has been imposed by the state on this April Fool mischief, this fellow may be given pardon.” The head of department accepted my prayer and closed the case / But he gave a suggestion that the head clerk must beg pardon from the peon in presence of all the members of the staff and a report be sent to him that this rehearsal had been conducted and the peoon actually forgave the head clerk.
Actually the head clerk had to give to the peon some money as compensation and only then the case could be closed. In India, the people must be ready to face such consequences, if they play this first April Mischief with others.
