How much more do people who own bail bond agencies make than the bail agents?

I am interested in becoming a bail bondsman, and eventually opening up my own agency with a few locations if possible. How much more would I make than the bail agents working for me?

It obviously depends on how much you pay your agents and how much overhead (office, phone book ads, advertising) you have. It also depends on how much bail you write. If you write a lot, your overhead will be a smaller percentage and therefore you will make more money. If you write a small amount of bail, you might not make any money while your agents will get paid on their deals.

Example, you pay 30% of the premium to your agents and 20% to your insurance company. That leaves you with 50%. If you have a ton of phone book ads and a large office, that 50% might not cover your bills if you don’t write much bail.
