Is Australia considered Technologically Advanced like US, Japan, etc?

What is your impression of Australia in terms of our Science and Technology?

We aren’t the worst, but we still have a long way to go to catch up technologically with countries such as Japan and the US. Our economy is still focused mainly on agriculture and mining, and our government fundings for scientific research lags far behind the US, Japan and Europe, and immigration generally focuses in bringing in skills unrelated to Science.

For the long term benefit of our economy, we should invest a lot more in Scientific research and implementation of technologies, and bring in more people with scientific background that we are doing now.
