How to set up a small home networking at home?

ok.. i have to desktop computers and i wanna connection them..

i have a modem and i plug the two cable to that modem…

now i wanna play a game with that other computer specifically “DOTA”

how do i set it up without disconnecting to my internet..

You need a router.
