Film How About You
What do you think about setting up a film school / film academy for youths?
It will be part time, once a week maybe and kids can get creative and learn about multimedia, new media, and performing…
Are kids interested in learning/training or do they just want to have fun at these clubs?
What do you think and how much should this cost?
Great idea but expensive and a huge responsibility.
Presume you mean video rather than film.
As to cost –
1. Premises
2. Advertising
3. Video cameras
4. Sound equipment
5. Budget for repair and maintenance
6. Production budget
7. Specialist teaching staff (wages)
8. Technicians (wages)
9. Administrator / fundraiser (wages)
10. Editing equipment
11. Insurance for equipment and premises (and locations)
12. Insurance for participants
13. Computers and software
You’d probably need a lottery grant or money from the Prince’s Trust, as well as from local Council.
You’d probably have good initial take up but then high drop out rate. Maybe there’d only be a hardcore of real dedicated fanatics but the others passing through could still benefit hugely from the craft and team-working skills your academy would (hopefully) provide.
Suggest you look at similar projects already in existence. Here are two in West London.
