Swoopo type of site copyright question?

If I wanted to build a site like swoopo.com how would I find out what is legal to mimic and what would be a violation of a copyright?

Generally speaking, any original expression created by the copyright holder cannot be copied. This would include text, graphics, images, audio, video, and combinations thereof. There may be questions as to what is an “original expression.” But those questions have to be answered on a case-by-case basis, and cannot be answered in the abstract.

Also, the fact that you’re admitting that you want to “mimic” another website is a negative, in and of itself.
