Blogging for beginners?

I’ve been having problems finding decent employment and its getting really depressing. Recently I saw on one of those yahoo headlines that there are people who get paid well to blog. I’ve never bloged before, I mean I’ve seen those tabs on myspace and other sites about blogging but I’ve never used them. I’m told its just writing and I’ve always had a talent for writing. So where do I go with this skill? How does this blogging thing work and how could I get paid for it? I still plan on finding regular work but would like something to fall back on a little. If its writing, what do I write about so I can get paid?
